Woking – Sauber decided to recruit Pedro de la Rosa for the competition Formula One (F1) 2010. McLaren faction claimed was pleased to see the drivers joined the Spanish origin of this opportunity.
De la Rosa joined McLaren as test driver in 2003. Since then 38-year driver failed to penetrate the main team. De la Rosa’s got to be the main driver to replace Juan Pablo Montoya in Bahrain in 2005.
He re-appeared in the second half of the F1 season 2006, after Montoya’s move to NASCAR. Yesterday, Sauber decided to recruit de la Rosa. McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh’m happy and pray for success for de la Rosa.
“Pedro does have ambitions to become a Formula 1 racing driver. So, we will not allow it to get the opportunity to realize these ambitions, “said Whitmarsh.
“Instead we wish him the best. He is an outstanding player for the team during the last seven years. He made a major contribution for our success during that time, “continued the leader of the newer FOTA.
“He does not just remember the whole Vodafone McLaren Mercedes as a colleague, but also a very good friend,” he said as quoted by autosport, Thursday (21/1/2010).
